Bits and Bobs
A short list of unexpected/unplanned happenings during the rebuild....
After sourcing all the resistors a sudden realisation; I was working from the wrong circuit diagram. This resulted in not purchasing three values I did need and three that I didn't...!!!. As mentioned at the start there are two versions.
I was intending to replace the 100 ohm protection resistor with a fuse. I decided to reconsider as there is a 15 volt drop across the resistor and smoothing capacitors either side. This difference would ripple through.
I have added orange LED's at the two folded edges of the chassis. These are driven from the 6.3 volt heater supply. The light passes throught the perspex base and makes the base edges glow....
The pre-amp octal connector has been stripped and refitted but not connected. This is the same for the power outlet sockets too. This was more of a safety concern than any engineering reason.
The transformer laminations had a plastic insulation tape wound round the transformer. I found some wood veneer which I used to replace this tape. The veneer is just double sided sticky taped to the transformers and then lacquered and so could be removed in the future. It does add a level of class...in my opinion
